Taylor River: 59.69420 CFS
Fish are actively Spawning. You need to be careful while wading and leave these fish alone I don't care what your uncle says fishing redds isn't cool.
Midge and BWO hatch.
Dry Flies: Mole fly and midge cluster patterns / Baetis emerger or cripple patterns in size small (18-22) you can always fish these dries 2' plus behind a larger sz 16 dry fly as a sighter.
Nymphs: Purple or Black Juju Baetis / micro mayflies / RS2 / Pavel's Mysis
Gunnison River: 250.27 CFS
Water level and clarity will vary in the next couple weeks based off the weather. The current flow on the Gunnison River is perfect for wade angling the nymph bite has been great and you can expect some dry fly action as well. Some awesome fish are being caught in the lower stretches above Blue Mesa Reservoir.
Flies: Juju Baetis & Rainbow Warrior 18-20 / Pats Rubber Leg Coffee / Black pearl Perdigon sz 16-18.
Sparkle Minnows / Sex Dungeons / black or brown Leech patterns have been producing a good streamer bite as well.
East Portal: 350 CFS
With roughly 8000 trout per mile you can expect some awesome fishing and incredible scenery. Nymphing scuds, stonefly, midge, and BWO patterns will make for some great fly fishing. If you encounter a midge or BWO hatch and can dial in the dry fly bite it can be some of the best dry fly fishing this time of year think cripple and emerger dry patterns and focus on fishing the slower seams and backeddy's.
Flies: Scuds / Black Leech / Pats Rubber Legs / Egg colored Eggs / Rainbow warrior / Baetis perdigons / Black two bit hooker
Blue Mesa Reservoir: 55ft below full
Don't overlook fly fishing Blue Mesa. Leeches, chironomids, and worm patterns fished under a sensitive strike indicator can be a riot and produce some impressive trout and yellow perch.
Throwing Crayfish and Baitfish patterns around rocky structure can be a good way to target larger brown trout and rainbow trout.
