Winter hours are coming soon!!

Winter Hours are coming!

I know, it's sad. I hate the end of our season but soon we will be switching to limited hours before closing until the holidays then ice fishing.

The best way to stay on top of these changes is to scroll down the front page of our website, follow us on Facebook and Instagram (gunnison_riverflyshop) and continue to get these emails.

We want to thank everyone for a great summer, it was definitely a challenging one thanks to the Blue Mesa bridge work. We want to thank everyone that helped keep our heads above water and we hope next season is better!!

Keep an eye out for our hosted saltwater trips. We are heading to Cuba this November with 10 awesome anglers and putting six boats a day out for the week! Currently we do not have anything planned for 2025, but we will be scouting new places in Belize over my 60th birthday in January. I will make sure to update you after our Cuba trip!

Do not hesitate to call and leave a message if we are not there, I may also answer you from my cell phone. As always you can shop online and we will deliver your purchase.

Depending on staff, we may do some winter fly tying classes and offer a discount to those who come in to hang out!! We will update you on this through all the aforementioned means I listed above.

I wish you all a safe and adventurous winter and cannot wait to see you next spring.

THE FISHING REMAINS HOT!

I know, I know, I said that last two months!! But it's true, the fishing is still on fire!! The brown spawn is coming and the salmon are still being caught, along with all the trout that are hanging out behind them.

For salmon, you want a red San Juan worm or big red copper john on heavy tippet and a lot of weight! Hit the bottom fast and smack them in the face!

For trout you can use egg patterns or a pegged egg rig, make sure to read the regulations on those and do it the right way!

BWO's are out and about and smaller dries have been working well. Emerger patterns underneath your dry or behind a nymph will catch fish all day long. Yellow and olive streamers up against the bank can make your float trip particularly exciting!!! Speaking of float trips, get yours scheduled now because we still have great water in the valley!!  The gunny in town as of today10/6/24, is 465cfs. We have been very lucky with the flows this season, they are fluctuating the flows on the Taylor to clean out the head gates, this has helped too. Our fish should remain nice and healthy thanks to the added flush.

Good Luck to all the hunters in the valley! Come along for a fishing trip after you fill that tag!!

Tight lines, Wade safe and leave no trace! And shoot straight!
